A Journey through Rub' Al Khali

Back in 2005 I was assigned to document in photos one of the most difficult and scary trips in the largest sand desert in the world. I was very excited to join the team in this trip, although I didn't have a clear idea of what to expect, & discovered later that this place is heaven on earth. It’s the perfect run-away place, away from all signs of present civilization, no crowd, people, mobiles; no streets, no cars, no noise... Thousands of kilometers of pure sand and calmness. A year later in 2006 we had to go on two more trips, since the first trip was not enough to cover all areas of the largely spread desert.

About the book

After few years of preparing, “Al Ramla” coffee table book was published, a photo book which explores - the largest sand desert in the world - “Rub’ Al Khali”.
Al Ramla contains 240 color images divided into 11 chapters, The Glamour of Sand, Cars, Tents, Plants, Hunting - The desert Sport, Intimate Gatherings, scattered, Tagharees, Aerial Shots, Animals, And Water of the Empty Quarter. I wish there was better input in the design and print. But still it is worth having a close look at this rarely explored part of the world.
